Nanjing Gold Foil Company was established in May 1955 with a registered capital of 10
million USD. It is the largest gold foil production company in China and one of the five largest gold foil production centers in the world. We are mainly engaged in the production of gold foil, silver foil, copper foil and aluminum foil. At the same time, we independently develop and design gold leaf crafts.

Gold leaf has been an offering at the Chinese court since 1368 AD. Gold leaf is made from pure gold that has been pounded 25,000 times and is less than one ten-thousandth of a millimeter thick. True gold leaf is as thin as a cicada's wing, as soft as silk and as light as a feather.

With more than 600 gold foil artists and world-class production facilities, Nanjing Jinling Gold Foil Group Co., Ltd. has been leading the development of the world gold foil industry for many years. All gold foil manufacturers in China are required to follow the latest standard.Jinling Gold Foil was awarded the National Gold Quality Award as early as 1987, and has won the title of famous brand products in Jiangsu Province and Nanjing City for many years.
On February 1, 2018, the President of the Palace Museum in Beijing, Shan Jixiang, visited the Group and awarded the "first batch of official ancient building materials (gold foil) designated base of the Forbidden City", making Jinling Gold Foil the "imperial" gold foil of China, and laying the foundation of gold foil quality deeper and deeper. This will lead to the flourishing of the Jinling Gold Foil brand. We will lay a solid foundation for creating a bright future for further processing products. We are determined to spread the beauty of gold foil with devotion, and to carry forward the traditional Chinese craftsmanship, and we will go farther and farther on the road of creation and commitment in the new time.

The Nanjing gold leaf forging technique originated in the Longtan and Jiangning areas of Nanjing and has a history of more than 2,000 years. The production process is still based on the twelve procedures handed down from ancient times, namely, proportioning, making gold bars, patting leaves, making twists, dropping gold openings, dipping gold twists, beating gold openings, loading gold openings, kang kang, beating the fine, producing, and cutting gold foil. Among the twelve processes, the most arduous is to beat the gold into thin sheets, and then the two gold foil craftsmen, the master and deputy, take turns to hammer with a 7- and 5-pound hammer respectively, at least 25,000 strokes. According to scientific calculation, the thickness of 943 pieces of gold foil is only 1 mm, and 10,000 pieces of gold foil weigh only 178.125 grams. The hard work of the workers and the excellence of the craft are evident. In particular, the secret recipe for the gold foil paper, which is the core of the gold foil technique, is unique in the world. When gold foil is wrought, it is wrapped in gold paper and forged tens of thousands of times to make gold foil that is 15 cm square and 0.11 microns thick. This requires that the gold paper be impact-resistant, heat-resistant, thin and unbreakable, and the quality of the gold foil is guaranteed by the gold paper.
In 2006, the "Nanjing Gold Foil Forging Technique" was included in the first batch of intangible cultural heritage in China, marking the official inclusion of the traditional gold foil craft into the national protection.
